After planning to leave at 9:30, we woke up gone 8:30. No bother as today was our shortest day of the trip. A cruisy 20km to get us to Murchison before Day 5 sees us start Old Ghost.
Another joyous tepid porridge in a plastic bowl for breakfast, with a nice cuppa tea and we were up.
Once again it was a chilly start, but this morning being in the bottom of a valley, we had clouds on the hills to add to the gloom.

The road was a bit more windy than the last few days, which would have been fun if it wasn’t for the drivers who didn’t seem to understand that you don’t have to overtake us with only 10cm to spare and at 100kph.

Eventually, we made it to Murchison, which was our destination for the day. We previously cycled through here whilst completing the TA a couple of years ago. This time however, we were staying at the boujie motel, not the cheap as chips one!
We found a cafe for second breakfast and polished off a BLT and eggs benne whilst waiting for it to be midday so we could check in.
Having written the shopping list of the food we would need for the next 3 days, we then popped into the supermarket for supplies, whilst James stood with the bikes outside and befriended 2 bikepackers who were currently on the road doing the TA.
It still wasn’t quite midday yet so we couldn’t check in, so we stopped off at our second cafe stop of the morning for a second cup of tea.

Finally, it was midday and we could check in.
Managing to wash my hair for the first time in 4 days, and taking the opportunity to do some laundry before the next 3 days in the wop wops, we were looking so fresh and so clean!

With nothing to do for the rest of the day, James was able to catch up with Supercross (Barcia you dirty little cheat!) so he was a happy little (Easter) bunny. That or it was the bag of creme eggs he brought to “share” conveniently forgetting I don’t like them…
For the first time this trip, we were able to grab some veggies from the super market, which was delightful and we polished off dinner, featuring some uncooked chicken (obviously didn’t realise it was still slightly pink until we’d finished dinner)
A final cup of tea for the day (tea count probably up to 9 at this point!) then time for an early night before the hard work begins tomorrow.
Day 4, complete.
It’s good to be adventuring again!
